McCann Manchester worked with the Manchester versus Cancer Alliance to develop, test, pilot and launch a multi-award winning Social Marketing campaign called ‘Don’t be Cancer Chancer’. The campaign was developed to raise awareness of the early symptoms of lung, breast and bowel cancer across Greater Manchester. It aimed to save lives by making people over 50 more aware of the specific symptoms of these cancers and encouraging them to seek medical help sooner. The campaign saw a 20% increase in the number of people visiting their GP and a 55 per cent increase in GP referrals.
The campaign has won numerous awards including IPA Best of Health, IPA Effectiveness, CIPR Regional and National Excellence Awards and an ARFDavid Ogilvy Gold Award for Excellence in Advertising Research.
